Christmas Celebrations

I was so excited today to receive an invitation in the mail to Bethany Pentecostal Assembly’s Birthday party in honour of Jesus in a couple of weeks. I had been debating Christmas mass as, though myself and my children are all baptized Catholic (and Lloyd and I have recieved our sacrements of Communion, Confession and Confirmation), we attend (or had been until summer and school put me way off track) service as the Pentacostal Chapel and enjoy it very much. I feel the Pentacostal messages are best aligned with my own personal faith and enjoy the support Lloyd receives there from other men who are proud of their relationship with God, something which I feel is incredibly important and worth more than millions of dollars. Emeraude however misses Grandmaman (who attends the Catholic Church or ‘big church’ as Emeraude calls it) and though E loves Sunday School and the friends that are there, she does choose the ‘big church’ for worship when given the option (and now they have Sunday School once again).

Anyhow, I was feeling torn when thinking of Christmas and the fact that I enjoy being at church with my family (my brothers each live here with their families as well and Christmas mass with all of us filling an entire pew is special to me and my kids) I was wishing I might find a way to enjoy a Pentecostal celebration of Christmas as well.  WELL, this is where the mail comes in.

I received a really great letter from the Pentecostal Assembly, it was full of their usual witty humour… For example, the Date says:

December 13th. Traditionally December 25th but He’s always around so the date is flexible…

How true is that? and really, I hope to keep that in mind more often as it could help me find ways to fit in worship from both churches.

Every aspect of the invitation from Attire to tickets to entertainment to RSVP, it all included very obvious reminders of God’s plans for us and how important it is to focus on the important things in life.

So, December 13th I will be unavailable for supper plans. Can’t wait, must get to the church to sign up asap.

If you would like to enjoy a good meal, celebrating the birth of our Lord (the whole point to Christmas) with good company, and I’m sure plenty of laughter, sign up at Bethany Pentecostal Assembly for their Birthday Celebration in Honour of Jesus – I’m sure its an open invitation, that’s just the kind of church it is, they always invite everyone leaving things like judging to God 🙂
