NORTHERN ONTARIO FIRES

From Luc in regards to Wawa 18

The Fire Started Yesterday afternoon,  May 27.    The Fire is About 62 Km East of Wawa, 70 Km west of Chapleau,  the Fire Burnt Down a Major Powerline Feeding power to Chapleau  Hydro One Says that Chapleau could be out of power till late Sunday to Monday Morning.  Chapleau haas been out of power since the Fire Started yesterday.
 
The Fire Is about 40 kms Of Hawk Junction.   
 
The Fire Is At the the Jackpine River  Mear the Misinabie Hwy 101 Intersection.    There was 4 Water Bombmers and One Guide plane On the Scene today  OPP was on the Sence too keeping a Look on the hwy
 
The wawa airport had 3 Choppers, Fueling up, loading Fire Crews and loading suplies, Hoses Water Pumps  Gear.
 
The Fire has Burnt down many of the Fiberoptic line on the Side of the Road.
The Fire Has Burnt About 2200 heactairs 
 
Status Of Fire   not Under Control.
 
Highway 101 from the Hawk Junction turnoff to the junction of Hwy. 129 and 101 at Chapleau has been closed early Afternoon yesterday The highway was closed due to a forest fire that began on the west side of the highway at the Jackpine River (62 kms east of Wawa).
