Each June, in honour of Seniors’ Month, the Township of Manitouwadge Mayor and Council host a breakfast for local seniors.  An opportunity to recognize the important role seniors have as members of our community, and to thank them for ongoing sacrifices and contributions and volunteerism.

7:30 am, Friday, June 25th breakfast organizer Janice Heath, Assistant to the Public Works Superintendent, coordinated Mayor and Council, township staff, and summer students, 15 would-be chefs, servers, dishwashers and cleaners in all, as they prepared an early morning feast for 85 Manitouwadge seniors. The guests of honour attended from at 8:30am to 11am, welcomed to the the Golden Age Club by Mayor John MacEachern who also assisted with seating attendees and slinging coffee, when he wasn’t busy running back and forth to downtown grocery stores for additional eggs and bacon.

Before leaving, seniors offered their compliments to the cooks and team which had worked together seamlessly, providing a delicious meal which included, pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage as well as juices, coffee and tea.
