Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision

(Dryden, ON.) –On Thursday July 15th 2010 at approximately 12:50 pm a motor vehicle collision occurred on Highway 17 in Hodgson Township, 2 km west of the Highway 622 and Highway 17 junction.

A west-bound passenger vehicle and an east-bound pickup truck collided on the highway and ended up striking a rock cut on the south side of the highway.  The driver of the pickup truck suffered non life-threatening injuries and was treated at the Dryden Regional Hospital.  The female driver of the passenger vehicle, Kaneez ZEHRA (45) of Mississauga Ontario, died as a result of the collision.

Members of the Dryden and Ignace OPP detachments responded to the collision along with fire and ambulance emergency services from Ignace.  Highway 17 was closed as a result of the collision.  The highway was opened to one lane of traffic at 6:00 pm and then completely opened at 8:55 pm. 

Police are still investigating the collision.
