DUBREUILVILLE, ON – The Annual Dubreuilville Strongman Challenge was held last weekend, September 10th – 12th, a great success once again as the community welcomed both Junior and Adult Competitors, along with their support teams, families and/or fans from far and wide.  Approximately 3000 people visited over the course of the weekend, making one of the community’s biggest this year, challenged only by the Father’s Day Fish Derby.

The weekend kicked off with Strongman Junior Competition sponsored by Andy’s Machine Shop in Dubreuilville;30kids entered in one of three age groups to compete in an obstacle course style time-trial.  Each child flipped a tire twice before running to a sled loaded with weights which they would drag back across the course as fast as possible.  Each participant received a commemorative t-shirt along with a trading card of local strongman, Jose Plante.

Immediately following the Juniors, the 15 Professional , from Ontario, Quebec and the US, were introduced. This portion of the weekend, reminiscent of something out of the WWF with its special effects, lights, smoke and roaring music, drew a huge crowd once again.

There is no doubt that after 9 years of hosting this event, the Strongman Committee and many volunteers from the community of Dubreuilville have learned to run the event smoothly. Many of the athletes commented that it is one of the best strongman events they attend, crediting spot on organization and the many volunteers for its success.

Dubreuilville Mayor Helene Perth with Algoma-Manitoulin MPP Mike Brown. "I always look forward to attending the Strongman Competition in Dubreuilville and join in the fun with the competitors, the community & many visitors. I would like to commend the staff and volunteers for their efforts and hard work in making this event such a success." said Brown.
