UPDATE – OPP CHARGE MALE FOR SEX OFFENCES AGAINST YOUTH
MATHEWSON CONVICTED AND SENTENCED
FORT FRANCES, ON – July 2010, Fort Frances Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit with the support of the Northwest Region Crime Unit and the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch charged Garry Donald MATHEWSON, age 44 years with several sexual offences. The offences involved three male victims and took place within the Rainy River District and the Thunder Bay District between 1992 and 1999.
December 1, 2010, Garry Donald MATHEWSON, age 44 years appeared in Fort Frances before Superior Court Justice J. WRIGHT. MATHEWSON was convicted of three counts of Sexual Exploitation and one count of Sexual Interference. As a result, MATHEWSON has been ordered into custody to serve 66 months concurrent with 141 days of pre-sentence custody. In addition, he has been ordered to register with the Sexual Offenders Information Registry and submit DNA samples to police to be added to the Sexual Offenders Database. MATHEWSON is prohibited from attending any place children frequent for ten (10) years and he is prohibited from possessing firearms for his lifetime.
