MANITOUWADGE, ON  – Wednesday, December 22 Long-Term Care residents of the Manitouwadge General Hospital (MGH) had a special visit from members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 242 and the owner of Rouselle’s Valu-Mart as the trio joined by MGH Director of Finance, Adenola Bodunde went from room to room delivering some Christmas cheer.  The annual initiative, which sees poinsettias personnally delivered to each long-term care resident,  has been a tradition for many years, spearheaded by the legionnaires.  Though in past years the delivery has been made solely by the legionnaires, this year, Legion President Ron Sheppard invited Rouselle to come along feeling it was important for the co-sponsor to see how much this gesture means to the recipients.

“It’s about Community Involvement and spreading Christmas Cheer” said Sheppard, looking very dapper, as did his Legion brother Lou Budgell, as both were dressed in full uniform, Sheppard continued “We take time to chat with those who are up to it and wish them a Merry Christmas – the pointsettias are quite hearty and will provide a reminder that we are thinking of them throughout the holiday season.” Rouselle wholeheartedly agreed, echoing Sheppard’s sentiment.

Local churches have a tradition of carolling to acute and long-term care patients at MGH, if you would like to bring some Christmas Cheer this Holiday Season, get in touch with one of the local  parishes for information about when you can join them in spreading the holiday spirit.
