Premier Announces New Minister of Labour

December 17, 2010

Charles Sousa, newly appointed Minister of Labour

Yesterday evening Premier Dalton McGuinty announced that Charles Sousa is the new Minister of Labour following the resignation from Cabinet of Peter Fonseca.”Charles will continue to put Ontario workers and their families first, particularly as we implement the workplace safety recommendations in the Tony Dean Expert Panel. I know Charles will continue to bring together our workers and businesses to uphold employment standards and improve the health and safety of our workplaces.

Charles has been a strong advocate for the people of Mississauga South and I know he will bring that same passion, drive and enthusiasm to this new role.

I thank Peter Fonseca for the tremendous job he has done on behalf of Ontario families.  He has helped to double the number of workplace inspectors, reduce the number of lost-time injuries in the workplace and increase the minimum wage.”

Peter Fonseca remains MPP for Mississauga East-Cooksville.
