MARATHON, ON – Monday, December 19th the first of many performances and graduation ceremonies were held at the Lakeview Community Centre as the Marathon Gymnastics Club ends it’s first session of the 2011/12 season.  2 groups of 3-6 yrs old gymnasts each performed floor routines for parents and guardians in attendance before their coaches, Victoria Wells and Amanda Blanch presented each of them with their report cards and badges earned.

There will be many such evenings this week as the club had seven groups of gymnasts, between 3 to 18 years of age, this session spanning many levels from Kindergym to Coaches in Training.  In addition to these the two aforementioned coaches, Victoria Wells and Amanda Blanch having recently earned their Level 2 Coaching certifications (CLICK HERE to read about that) are now studying their Theory for exams in the new year.  The senior gymnasts practice under the guidance of Head Coach Connie Ross.

CONGRATULATIONS! To all the girls and boys who worked so hard this session to earn their new badges! See you all in the New Year.

The Marathon Gymnastics Club includes gymnasts from Marathon, Pic River/Heron Bay and Manitouwadge.  Coaches are still encouraging would-be gymnasts from Manitouwadge or Schreiber/Terrace Bay to contact Louise if you are interested in attending a possible Saturday class.  If you would like to enroll your child in the 2nd session of the 2011/12 season, beginning the 3rd week of January contact Louise at 229-1653.
