MANITOUWADGE, ON – The creators of the Golden Globe, the Emmy and the Obie awards have been outdone by Manitouwadge Public School teacher Mr. Larsen!  An elaborately designed Literacy Day Challenge award prompted all of our students to put forth their  competitive spirit like no other challenge before it!

The younger students were grouped with older students and sent on a scavenger hunt for words to make a sentence relating to a book that had been read to the student body earlier during the day in the gymnasium.  This and other exciting activities, including the students reading to each other, were part of the Literacy Day celebrations at Manitouwadge Public School.

The winning team is seen in the photo above, show off their  “is it real gold?” award.  Each student will display the trophy in their classroom for a week.  Literacy is an important part of everyone’s life, and making it a fun thing to do reaps numerous rewards though at MPS this newest trophy is among the student’s favourite benefit no doubt!
