HORNEPAYNE, ON – February 16, the girls’ junior volleyball team from École secondaire Saint-Joseph in Wawa topped competing teams with stellar play during the North Shore Secondary School Athletic Association (NSSSAA) championship tournament. The regional competition, held in Hornepayne, saw the Chevaliers face the Hornepayne High School Hawks and the Lake Superior High Stingers.

École secondaire Saint-Joseph, which maintained a perfect win-loss record during regular season play, defeated Lake Superior in three straight final games to take the championship.Showing a high level of play and concentration that complemented their strong team spirit, the Chevaliers excelled on the court and returned to Wawa with the coveted award in hand: the championship team banner. The volleyball squad was coached by Mrs.Carole Bouffard and assisted by grade 12 student Brandon Vachon-Case.

The victory meant that École secondaire Saint-Joseph has succeeded in bringing home two sports banners this year. It’s a source of great pride, and the school hopes to renew the experience in an upcoming sporting competition by claiming a third banner.
