MANITOUWADGE, ON – The Manitouwadge Family Health Team’s 8 week Amazing Walk Challenge wrapped up last Wednesday, July 4th, with an incredible finale at Prospectors’ Park on the downtown waterfront of Manitouwadge Lake.  The park was decorated from one end to the other, laterns hanging in the trees, bistro-style tables set up among the regular picnic tables, giant ‘storefronts’ La Boulangerie, The Ice Cream Shoppe, and local business Superior Wines’.

Teams had pre-ordered ‘picnic baskets’ for the evening (from the MFHT) which included a checkered tablecloth, fresh baguette, block of delicious gouda cheese – a generous donation by Dr. Cote who is the physician that works with the Family Health Team, fresh grapes and very cute mini bubble bottles which looked like tiny wine bottles; these were just another great touch which helped make the evening extra special and showed the effort and thought put into the entire challenge by the Manitouwadge Family Health Team.

Manitouwadge General Hospital CEO Jocelyn Bourgoin was Master of Ceremonies for the evening and led the draws for Segment 4 prizes.

Segment 4 Prize winners:

  • The Hens and The Chicks,
  • The Blister Sisters,
  • Taking It In Stride

Manitouwadge Fire Chief Owen Cranney also took the mic to thank the MFHT for including many safety and fire themed challenges in the mandatory pit stops and to present prizes to those who had been drawn as winners following their completion of the Emergency Preparedness Survey.

Finally it was time for the Grand Prize Draw: 6 Off-Road (i.e.Mountain) Bikes and 6 Manitouwadge Adventure Tours (to be chosen by winning team).  They almost seemed in disbelief when their name was called and though 2 of their members were unable to attend the finale, those who were there from Team NEMESIX let out a cheer.  Congratulations to Cherie Gray, Rita Aguiar, Natalie Labbee, Julie McIntyre, Nancy Esarte and Jen Curtis.
