Manitouwadge Resident Charged – Breath Tests Almost 3x Over Legal Limit

MANITOUWADGE ON –  Saturday September 8, 2012 shortly after 1:00 am, an officer from the Manitouwadge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on patrol and observed a lone grey sedan driving southbound on Hwy 614 just south of Manitouwadge ON. When the officer turned around to investigate, the grey sedan sped away reaching speeds up to 100 km/h on two lane roads.

The vehicle stopped abruptly at a residence on Otter Rd in Manitouwadge and the officer intercepted the male trying to walk to the residence. After speaking to the male, the officer arrested him for impaired driving. The result of his breath tests were more almost 3 times over the legal limit.

Shane CLERMONT, 27, from Manitouwadge was charged with:

  • Impaired operation of a Motor Vehicle,
  • Operate a Motor Vehicle with over 80mg of Alcohol in 100ml of Blood,
  • Dangerous Driving.

He is also facing Highway Traffic Act charges. The accused was released from custody and is to appear in Marathon Criminal Court on November 15, 2012.

The vehicle in these cases was impounded for 7 days as an administrative vehicle impoundment for blood alcohol concentration above .08 mgs.
