Statement from Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport on Ontario Paralympic Athletes

Today, Michael Chan, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport, released the following statement in recognition of Ontario’s athletes who competed at the London 2012 Summer Paralympic Games:

The Honourable Michael Chan, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport

“On behalf of the McGuinty government, I’d like to congratulate all Ontario Paralympic athletes who competed for Canada in London. You’ve inspired us all — including generations of future Paralympians — with your determination, dedication and drive.

The McGuinty Government is proud to partner with Ontario athletes. Of the 15 Ontario athletes (and 1 guide runner) who earned 12 event medals at the 2012 London Paralympics, 13 (plus the guide runner) received support through the province’s Quest for Gold Program. Our government is truly honoured to have played a role in supporting many of you in your pursuit of athletic excellence.

You truly are wonderful ambassadors for your sport and for the Province of Ontario.”
