MANITOUWADGE, ON – This week, you may have seen Jackie Harrison downtown or walking around town with a donation box hanging around her neck as, she explained, the Manitouwadge Humane Society is in great need of donations to ensure they are able to continue doing the very important work they do to protect and assist pets in need in Manitouwadge.

Jackie explained that, this summer the MHS was not able to do the many yard sales they have done in past years and this has contributed to a lack of the funds needed to house, feed, and provide veterinary care for the animals they look after.  Jackie reminds everyone that there are always animals, in particular cats and dogs, in need of homes in Manitouwadge and that these pets make some of the best companions. “It’s like they appreciate human love more because of their pasts” said Jackie who herself is the owner of both a rescued dog and two rescued cats.

If you would like to donate to the Manitouwadge Humane Society or are interested in adopting a pet, contact Jackie Harrison (to donate) 826-4192; or Lulu Massicotte (adoption) 826-3629.

The Manitouwadge Humane Society is not funded by the government, and is able to stay open only through charitable donations, the work of dedicated volunteers and community support.
