The following statement was release December 9, 2013 by the Hon. Michael Gravelle, Minister of Northern Development and Mines; interview with Minister Gravelle below.
“I am pleased that we have been able to find a solution to the situation faced by the Township of Manitouwadge regarding access to their landfill site. I am grateful that Transportation Minister Murray has announced that his Ministry will fund and support the snow plow maintenance that will clear the 7 kilometre stretch to the community’s landfill site; allowing for emergency services and garbage pick-up to be resumed. Minister Murray and I spoke about this situation at the Northern Leaders Forum this past Friday in Timmins and he informed me over the weekend that our government would perform the necessary maintenance to ensure vital services could resume.” Michael Gravelle, MPP Thunder Bay Superior North
