Ontario is creating 10 new jobs while improving infrastructure near Balmertown.

The Nungesser River Bridge, north of Highway 125, is being upgraded to improve travel and safety for families and businesses while strengthening tourism and the economy in the north. Existing timber decking will be replaced with pre-cast concrete panels.

  • Moncrief Construction Ltd. has been awarded the $1.05-million contract. Work will begin in spring 2014 with completion scheduled for fall 2014.
  • The Nungessor River Bridge is located north of Highway 125 on Nungesser Road. It is an important transportation link for tourist operators, private camps, and forestry companies and connects to winter roads accessing remote First Nations.
  • Since 2003, Ontario has rehabilitated 3,624 kilometres of highway and 212 bridges and built 524 kilometres of new highway and 121 new bridges throughout northern Ontario.
