DRUG WARRANT LEADS TO CHARGES IN NAKINA

oppcolourNAKINA, ON – On May 2, 2014 members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) executed a search warrant at a residence on Birch Crescent in Nakina. The investigation and search were conducted by members of the Greenstone Detachment, the Community Drug Action Team and the North West Region Crime Unit.

During the execution of the warrant officers seized a large quantity of drugs with an estimated value of approximately $9,350. Drug trafficking paraphernalia was also seized during the search.

As a result, 54 year old James BYERLEY of Nakina has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule II Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The accused was released from custody and has a scheduled court appearance in Geraldton Criminal Court on May 8, 2014.
