MARATHON, ON – OntarioNewsNorth.com interviewed Marathon OPP Detachment Constable Peter Burtin today for an update regarding the Ontario Provincial Police’s ongoing search for a suspect alleged to have been involved in a domestic disturbance early Sunday, August 31st.

Constable Burtin explained that OPP TRU (Tactics Response Unit) from Southern Ontario have now left Marathon as they had been called in to assist when police assessed that there was a chance the suspect may have been armed, and inside one of two Marathon homes.  The houses were thoroughly searched by OPP TRU and sealed and will continue to be under surveillance said Constable Burtin.

OPP ERT (Emergency Response Team) from Thunder Bay continue to be on the scene assisting with searching an ever-expanding area in an effort to locate the suspect, 26 year old Bobby Charbonneau from Marathon whom they have described as:

  • tall,
  • with a thin build,
  • short dark hair;
  • last seen wearing dark coloured clothing

Constable Burtin explained that anyone with any information regarding Charbonneau’s possible whereabouts or anyone who seems him at large should contact their local police department or Crimestoppers immediately.

MARATHON, ON – The Marathon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continues to look for a male involved in a dispute August 31, 2014.  Upon arriving at the call for service, police learned that the male left the residence and may be armed. All available police resources are currently in Marathon, Ontario to assist local detachment members with the search including members of the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), officers of the OPP North West Region and North East Region Emergency Response Teams (ERT) and the OPP North West Region Canine Unit.

In the interest of public safety, the OPP is seeking the public’s assistance in locating 26-year-old Bobby CHARBONNEAU of Marathon. He is described as tall, with a thin build and short dark hair and was last seen wearing dark coloured clothing.

Residents in the area of Jackson Crescent and Helmo Drive within the town of Marathon are asked to take precautions to enhance their personal safety by locking doors whether they are inside their residence or not.

The OPP reminds all members of the public to be aware of their personal safety and that of children at all times. Children should not be left unattended anywhere, for any length of time, when out in public. The OPP’s website, www.opp.ca contains a number of useful resources, tips and links.

MARATHON, ON – The Marathon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently looking for a suspicious male involved in a dispute earlier this morning.  Upon arriving at the call for service, police learned that the male left the residence and may be armed.  Police are taking into consideration all precautions as they investigate this occurrence and locate the male.  All available police resources are currently in Marathon, ON to assist local detachment members with the search including officers of the OPP North West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the OPP North West Region Canine Unit.

Marathon O.P.P. Looking for Suspect

oppcolourMARATHON, ON – The Marathon Detachment of the O.P.P. are currently looking for a suspect involved in a domestic dispute.  The male suspect may be armed.  All available resources are being deployed in the search for the suspect.  Residents who live on Jackson Crescent and Hemlo Drive, in the town of Marathon, are advised to remain in their homes with their doors locked.  The police investigation is ongoing and further updates will follow.
