Numerous Property Crime Charges Laid In Greenstone

oppcolourGREENSTONE, ON – November 22, 2014 members of the Greenstone Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received information regarding a number of outstanding property crimes that had taken place between June and November of 2014 in the ward of Geraldton, Municipality of Greenstone. Based on the information received officers were able to identify and arrest a male youth. This new information allowed officers to conclude several ongoing criminal investigations and lay numerous charges against the youth.

A 15 year old male, who cannot be identified according to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Two counts of breaking and entering with intent to commit an indictable offence contrary to section 348(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
  • Four counts of breaking and entering and committing the offence of theft contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.
  • Two counts of mischief to property under $5,000 contrary to section 430(4) of the Criminal Code.
  • One count of failing to comply with a sentence or disposition contrary to section 137 of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The youth is currently being held in police custody pending an appearance to the Thunder Bay Ontario Court of Justice.
