OPP Investigate Wide Load Collision – #Hwy101 Closure Expected Sunday

FOLEYET, ON –  Friday November 21, 2014 at 8:25 am officers from the South Porcupine Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a motor vehicle collision in which a Kenworth tractor trailer unit, hauling wide load lost control due to alleged mechanical failure. Vehicle and load came to rest in north ditch of Hwy 101 at Keefer Lake Road in Hillary Township.

On Sunday November 23, 2014 at 12:00 pm (noon) extraction of the wide load will begin and it is anticipated will last about eight hours. Highway 101 will be closed at Hwy 101 /144 intersection (east road block) and at the town of Chapleau (west road block).

Detours will be set in place where west bound traffic must now take 144 to Sudbury and continue west on Hwy 17 and that east bound traffic can proceed east to Foleyet but no further unless they use Hwy 17 east to Sudbury and then north on Hwy 144.
