Ministry Seeks Public’s Help to Identify Individuals who left Nets Unattended

ontariologoThe Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry seeks the public’s help in identifying the individuals responsible for setting gill nets that were left unattended in Goulais Bay on Lake Superior in November and December 2014.

Several gill nets set off the southern shore of Goulais Bay and left unattended since November were reported to the ministry. Conservation officers with the Sault Ste. Marie and Northern Marine Enforcement units located and pulled the nets, which contained decomposing fish. The nets were still properly set when found and were not adrift, but they had been left unattended.

The ministry hopes that the public can help to provide information leading to the individuals responsible for setting these nets.
