Sun Shines for 2015 Fun Run in Manitouwadge

MANITOUWADGE, ON – June 2nd the Township of Manitouwadge Community Services Department hosted it’s annual Fun Run. The event has been taking place in Manitouwadge for at least 30yrs and weather has often been part of the challenge of the 1km route but not for 2015!
This year weather was nearly ideal, 20o with cloudy skies and a temperate wind to ensure participants didn’t overheat. Community Services staff, Director Paula McCloskey and Community Programmer Shawna Patterson welcomed participants, in the lobby of the Recreation Centre, with information regarding the route, sign-up sheets and, of course, freezies for those who returned after completing the challenge.
There were plenty of smiles, as groups of families and friends, many including their pets (on-leash of course), came out to participate.
Final numbers for the 2015 Manitouwadge Fun Run were as follows:
ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS
- École Publique Franco-Manitou (CSPGNO)– 42% participation
- Our Lady of Lourdes (SNCDSB) – 21% participation
- Manitouwadge Public School (SGDSB)– 11% participation
SECONDARY SCHOOL
Manitouwadge High School (SGDSB) – 4% participation
OTHER
General Public – 4% participation
