Kim & Cara realizing they are stuck at school all night with 28 students

SCHREIBER, ON – May 29, Holy Angels School Student Council organized a Wake-a-thon where 28 students spent Friday night at school, from 8:00pm to 8:00am with Mrs. Kim Figliomeni and Mrs. Cara Figliomeni.  Student Council wanted to give back to our community, as well as have fun and promote school spirit, as part of a Speak Up Grant. To stay overnight, students from Gr. 4-8 had to raise at least $30 (enough for a bundle of shingles for our Church Roof Project).

For the Wake-a-thon, the participating students raised an amazing $1145, which will buy 38 bundles of shingles.  Students spent the night playing games in the gym, watching hockey, playing board games in the library, competing in fun events like jello eating and whip cream-bubble gum blowing, and hanging out with each other.  Every hour, we took a group picture somewhere different.  The picture in the school entrance (below) was taken at 3:00am.

The night was an amazing success, and all students seemed to have a lot of fun and most lasted the whole night.  It was a wonderful opportunity for students and the chaperones to spent time together and have fun – of course we had food: pizza, veggies, snacks, candies, and cookies.  Both Mrs. Figliomeni’s really loved the opportunity to relax with students and create memories that will not be forgotten.  Throughout the night, our school mascot, Gabe even visited and Student Council’s vision of a uniting, community supporting event was a huge success!  HAS is proud of our students!
