Tractor Trailer Fire on Highway 17 East of Marathon

MARATHON ON – Wednesday July 29, 2015 approximately 07:05pm, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Marathon/Manitouwadge detachment were advised of a motor vehicle fire involving a tractor trailer on Highway 17 near Rouse Lake approximately 35km east of Marathon ON.    

An eastbound tractor trailer unit (TTU) began experiencing mechanical problems and started on fire. The local fire department as well as MNR fire attended and extinguished the fire. The driver received no injuries and was able to exit the vehicle before the fire engulfed the TTU.

Highway 17 was closed for approximately 1 hour while the fire was being extinguished.
