Let’s take yet another walk down memory lane, to 1993, when the world was introduced to dinosaurs in a way unlike we’d ever seen before. Movie director icon Steven Spielberg used a massive budget to create the special effects filled blockbuster Jurassic Park. The movie was an instant success and has since become one of the highest grossing and notable movies of all time. Not surprisingly, there were 2 sequels each spread four years apart and the fan base continued to grow. Needless to say, people young and old were in a frenzy when it was revealed that a fourth installment to the franchise was set to hit theatres in early 2015. The opening weekend box office gross of over 200 million dollars proved that the fan base was still very much alive and healthy. Jurassic World, with all its hype, is this week’s headline new release along with a whopping 9 other titles. To follow is a brief synopsis of each new movie;

Jurassic World: starring Chris Pratt – Employees at Jurassic World, a new theme park located on the original site of Jurassic Park, are thrown into a frenzy when one of their genetically modified dinosaurs escapes captivity and begins wreaking havoc on the island. Paper Towns: starring Nat Wolff – After an all night adventure, a young man’s life-long crush disappears, leaving behind clues that he and his friends follow leading to the journey of a lifetime. (Drama/Romance) (DVD and Blu-Ray) Also available to rent at 2 Doors Down in Manitouwadge!

Strangerland: starring Nicole Kidman – A family finds their dull life in a rural outback town thrown into disarray after their two teenage children disappear into the desert, sparking disturbing rumors of their past. (Drama/Thriller) (DVD) Also available to rent at 2 Doors Down in Manitouwadge!

Exorcism of Molly Hartley: starring Sarah Lind and Devon Sawa – A young lady is accused of murder and confined to a mental hospital, where she wreaks supernatural havoc on the staff and patients. Her only hope is an exorcism by a priest looking to redeem himself and save her life before it’s too late. (Horror) (DVD) Also available to rent at 2 Doors Down in Manitouwadge!

Dope: starring Shameik Moore and Forest Whitaker – A self-proclaimed geek living in a tough neighborhood finds his life changed after a chance invitation to an underground party leads him and his friends into a Los Angeles adventure. (Comedy/Drama) (DVD)

Vatican Tapes: starring Michael Pena – A priest and two Vatican exorcists must do battle with an ancient satanic force to save the life and soul of a young woman. (Horror) (DVD)

Testament of Youth: starring Kit Harington – A searing journey from youthful hopes and dreams to the edge of despair and back again during the First World War. (Drama) (DVD)

Timber: starring Josh Peck and James Ransone – In the wild west, two brothers embark on a journey to collect a bounty in a desperate attempt to save their home- but what they find along the way is more than they ever bargained for. (Drama/Western) (DVD)

I Spit on Your Grave 3: starring Jennifer Landon – A young woman, still tormented by a brutal sexual assault endured years ago, moves to a new city in an attempt to get her life back on track. But when her new friend’s murderer is set free, she decides to take matters into her own hands and do what the justice system won’t. (Thriller/Horror) (DVD)

Skin Traffik: starring Mickey Rourke and Eric Roberts – Traumatized by the death of an innocent victim, a hit man takes to roaming the dangerous streets where he meets a young woman being held against her will by a group of gangsters. As he fights to save her life, he is dragged deep into the world of crime and corruption where no one can be trusted. (Action/Crime) (DVD)
