The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry reminds the public that it is an offence to deposit any material on public land.

Dumping and other environmental abuses of Crown land can be controlled using enforcement provisions under the Public Lands Act. Ministry conservation officers can charge individuals for dumping on Crown land.

If found guilty, convicted persons can face fines of up to $10,000, as well as additional fines of up to $1,000 for each day that the material, substance or thing remains on public land. Those convicted may also be ordered to clean up the debris.

To report a natural resource violation, call 1-877-TIPS-MNRF (847-7667) toll-free any time or contact your ministry office during regular business hours. You can also call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
