MANITOUWADGE, ON – Saturday, December 12th, the annual Community Christmas Party was held in the recreation centre auditorium .  The free event, which began at noon is a holiday season highlight for kids of all ages providing one of the few opportunities for Manitouwadge families to have a photo taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus (at no cost). Children and parents waited patiently for their turn to sit with Santa and Mrs. Claus in a line that was about 30-40 people deep throughout the 3 hour event.

In addition to meeting with Santa and Mrs. Claus, who shared candy canes with their friends, attending families could enjoy lunch, hot dogs and refreshments available to purchase, or get creative at one of the craft/activity stations.

Among the holiday themed crafts/activities attendees could enjoy were;

  • making santa beard/mustache masks,
  • painting ornaments,
  • making snowman ‘snowball’ launchers,
  • playing with ‘glitter snow-slime’

In spite of the challenge presented to organizers to offer different craft/activity stations, which will appeal to the wide range of ages who attend the event, year after year – organizers succeeded again this year!   The event was well organized, and enjoyed by all, many commented on the thrill of the ‘real’ Santa and Mrs. Claus attending.
