MANITOUWADGE, ON – Earlier this month, during Frosty Days Winter Carnival weekend the Manitouwadge Sparks/Brownie/Guide Unit (guides) in partnership with the Manitouwadge Public Library hosted a Pyjama Reading Party. The event was advertised throughout the community as all families were welcome to participate in the free event.

Guiding families had donated a variety of French, English and bilingual books for the guides and brownies, who volunteered in advance, to read to those in attendance. 3 tents had been erected and everyone was encouraged to wear their pyjamas and bring a blanket and stuffed animal to help get into the reading mood.

Friends who were restless during the event could take advantage of a playdoh station and everyone enjoyed a healthy snack and refreshments after the reading. The event wrapped up with draws for special books while all participants received a pencil, eraser and a new book (donated by the library and guide unit).

Whether reading or listening, all participating Sparks, Brownies and Guides, earned their National Literacy Badge.

Thanks to all who participated for helping to make the event a fun evening for all participating families.
