SCHREIBER, ON – Holy Angels School (HAS) Students from Grade 7/8 learned about carpentry, collaboration and compassion while building “friendship” benches under the guidance of Mr. Ken MacKenzie.

Mr. Fenton and the students walked down the street to Mr. MacKenzie’s beautiful workshop in February and our students built 2 benches  to be used inside and outside at HAS to serve as friendship benches, with the idea being that if someone is on the bench, they are looking for someone to talk to or just be with.  The benches are absolutely beautiful and our Gr. 7/8 students are very proud knowing they were a part of building these benches (and their signatures are on the back to prove it).

We are so very thankful to Ken and Sharon MacKenzie for sharing their love for construction and students and offering their time, expertise and guidance in designing and building these benches.   Thanks to Mrs. Visintin for the idea and connection, and for Mr. Fenton for always being involved and engaged with his students.  Stop by HAS and check out our benches.
