#FalconsFlyNorth – A Cultural Learning Experience in Greenstone

Students from Toronto Catholic DSB Learn & Lead with Superior North Catholic DSB May 15-19, 2016

GERALDTON, ON – The Superior North Catholic District School Board is pleased to announce, in partnership with Toronto Catholic District School Board’s Adventure Learning Experiences Program, a collaborative effort that will bring secondary students from Toronto to the communities of Greenstone for five days of leadership and learning. The objective of the visit is to combine both service, leadership, and adventure as integral themes in the educational visit.

During the visit, students from our schools in Longlac, Geraldton, and Nakina will showcase their strengths and highlight the way of life in small Northwestern Ontario communities. Our students will be leading the Toronto Catholic students in various learning expeditions such as Hoop Dancing and Drum Teachings in Nakina, Medicine Pouch Teachings in Geraldton, and a celebration of our cultures and communities in Longlac and Ginoogaming First Nation, as well as a guided hike up the Orient Bay Pallisades. While learning about and engaging in the cultural traditions of our peoples in the Greenstone area, the students from Toronto Catholic DSB will be sharing with us their strengths as students leaders by teaching our students about the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens.
