MANTIOUWADGE, ON – This week, Manitouwadge Public School (MPS) Grade 7 and 8 students paired up with  students from Our Lady of Lourdes School (OLOL) and reluctantly left their textbooks behind to spend the day enjoying their Annual Curling Bonspiel.

The young curlers have been preparing for this event through their Physical Education programs at each school.  Friendships and rapports are formed as these young people compete in mixed groups while learning one of our nation’s favourite sports.

Teamwork and interaction such as this goes a long way towards building a strong, independent future that our soon-to-be adults will be in charge of. Meeting each other in fun, casual settings can provide the students with important opportunities to interact with each other in advance of Grade 9 when they’ll work and learn together at Manitouwadge High School.  A big congratulations to each of the students who proved themselves great ambassadors for our schools.
