Suspect Located and Charged in Marathon

OPPcolourMARATHON, ON – On Thursday June 2, 2016 at approximately 10:05 a.m. members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Schreiber detachment conducted a traffic stop at Highway 17, town of Terrace Bay, to investigate a report of theft.  The male driver was spoken to briefly by officers and then fled east bound from the scene of the stop.

At 5:35 p.m. officers of the Marathon detachment located the suspect vehicle at Highway 17, Coldwell Township and the driver fled from police.  Officers observed the suspect vehicle, a newer model Lincoln SUV, turn off of the highway onto a side road where the vehicle stopped.  The driver was taken into custody without further incident. Investigation determined that the vehicle was stolen.

The 43 year old male driver, Christian Alin TALBOT of Kelowna, British Columbia has been charged with:

  • Flight While Pursued by Peace Officer (x2),
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000,
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000,
  • Theft Under $5000,
  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle,
  • Fail to Comply with a Probation Order, contrary to the Criminal Code. 

The male is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on this date for a bail hearing to answer to these charges.
