Wawa Goose Seniors’ Club : Looking Back at June & Ahead to July

wgsc-summerGoose Droppings

We have had a June meeting, a social and an election. We have enjoyed the beginning of summer and the return of the necessary rain. We may have followed the political and/or financial developments on both sides of the Atlantic…but that is another story, either an exciting or scary one.

Here in Wawa at the Drop In politics is rather tame…I guess. Neither lobbing nor fabulously insulting, boring, or world shaking speeches prefaced or accompanied executive elections. No advertising, no vast expenditures on media releases, no earth shattering announcements or pronouncements effected the outcome. But we do have an executive re-elected for another two year term ready to take office at the September Meeting on Wednesday, September 14. You now have almost two years to get your run for office all lined up; so please do keep it in mind.

The executive did meet in June and an agenda for the general meeting on June 15 did result. Before the elections we did formulate plans for some summer activities.

The Backroom Committee have done major clean outs of the accumulation of seldom seen and almost never needed items—enough to hold a Yard Sale. They plan to have it set up and running at the Drop In starting at 9:00a.m. on Saturday, July 9. It will be a “Pay What you Want” Yard Sale. If you have some item(s) you would like to donate to it, please get the item(s) in to the Drop In by Wednesday, July 6 by 3:00p.m.

Saturday July 9 is also in the midst of the Music Festival and the closure of Broadway. Therefore a good day to hold a BBQ at the Drop In. We will serve sausage on a bun and hot dogs, both with all the trimmings. It will start at 11:00 and continue until 2:00p.m. Can you help with the flipping or customer service or condiments? Give Carol a call at 705 856 7394 in the afternoon between Monday and Friday.

And, yes Ladies, it’s back!! Bunco Night is coming with the excitement of the rolling dice and laughter and dessert to die for! Tickets will be for sale soon so mark your calendar for Friday August 5, 2016 and do plan to come on out!
And if you forgot to come to the Pot Luck Dinner for Seniors’ Month on June 12 you really did miss out on the pleasant company and great food from appetizers to entrees through salad to great pies. We do hope that you check your calendar and organize attendance at our summer events. We love to see you there.
