Statement by the Honourable Patty Hajdu

THUNDER BAY, ON  – The Honourable Patty Hajdu, Member of Parliament for Thunder Bay-Superior North and Minister of Status of Women today issued the following statement:

Thunder Bay - Superior North MP Patty Hadju

Thunder Bay – Superior North MP Patty Hajdu

“It is with deep respect that I have reviewed the Ontario Coroner’s Inquest recommendations into the deaths of Jethro Anderson, Curran Strang, Paul Panacheese, Robyn Harper, Reggie Bushie, Kyle Morriseau and Jordan Wabasse. The inquest has attempted to address the significant barriers to access education that young Indigenous people face and provided recommendations which aim to improve the lives of Indigenous youth in Northwestern Ontario and indeed across Canada. As we review and study these recommendations, it is our responsibility as leaders to do our share and protect our precious children as they stretch and grow. I am determined to do my part in making sure that Jethro, Curran, Paul, Robyn, Reggie, Kyle and Jordan did not die in vain. We have heard your stories, and we will do better.”
