70+ Athletes Rise to Challenge of Paju Mountain Run

redrocktwpRED ROCK, ON – The 34th Annual Paju Mountain Run was held on Saturday August 6, 2016. The weather was warm and the sun was bright. Over 70 participants took on the challenge and 30 volunteers supported the finish line and aid stations. Red Rock Public Works department set up the course and made sure the road was in tip top shape.

A big thank you goes out to Fresh Air Experience and Salomon for the prizes. Many in-kind and cash donations filled the prize table. Thank you to the Keg, Caribou Restaurant, Atmosphere, Mallons, Nor’Wester Best Western Resort, Brennen Ford, Lake Superior National Marine Conservation Area, Royal Bank Nipigon Branch, Art by Art Photography, Canadian Tire Nipigon, Manilla’s Home Hardware, Rexal Pharmacy, Classic Cut Hair Design, Saunders Foodland, Zechners, Northern Credit Union, Live from the Rock Folk Festival, Royal Canadian Legion Red Rock Branch, Knights of Columbus, Deb Harris Shallow Massage Therapist and North Shore Golf Club.

Scott Hill took the Top Overall Male with a time of 41:18 and Top Overall Female was taken by Katherine Stewart-Jones with a time of 50:27. Top local male was award to Frank Booker with a time of 54:29 and Top local female was awarded to Race Director Sarah Clowes with a time of 54:29. The race was organized by Red Rock Economic Development Officer Sarah Clowes,  and Summer Student Danielle Boudreau. The Township of Red Rock is looking forward to hosting the 35th Annual Paju Mountain Run in 2017 for a mile stone celebration!
