It may be surprising for some to learn that Snow White was first published in 1812- as a German fairytale by the Brothers Grimm. Over the past decades, the tale has been told over and over again in a number of different variations. The story has also inspired a number of spin-offs including “Snow White and the Huntsman”- an adult twist on the tale that debuted in theatres in 2012. With nearly 400 million dollars in box office sales, the movie proved that not only was Snow White still relevant, but it could also be spun in a manner that appealed to adult audiences. The success of “Snow White and the Hunstman” inspired a sequel- “Huntsman Winter’s War” which happens to be this week’s headline new release. There are six new releases this week with a brief synopsis of each below;
Huntsman Winter’s War: starring Chris Hemsworth, Emily Blunt and Charlize Theron- Members of the Ice Queen’s army, try to conceal their forbidden love as they fight to survive the wicked intentions of both Freya and her sister Ravenna.
