Greenstone Man Found Dead – Foul Play Not Suspected

OPPcolourPAGWA, ON – On September 15, 2016, at approximately 12:08 a.m., the James Bay Detachments Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was advised of a missing male in the Village of Pagwa, Ontario.

The OPP North East Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), the OPP North East Region Canine, the OPP Helicopter, the OPP Forensic Identification and Photographic Services Section (FIPSS) and the OPP North East Region Criminal Investigation Unit were called in to assist with the search and investigation.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) and the Cadets and Junior Canadian Rangers also assisted in the search.

In the late morning of September 15, 2016, Larry Gillis, 72, of Greenstone, Ontario was located deceased in the area of the Pagwachuan River in Clavet Township.

Police do not suspect foul play and the investigation falls within the purview of the Regional Coroner Office.

A post mortem will be conducted in Sudbury, Ontario, however, a date and time is yet to be determined.
