UPDATE OPP Investigate Vehicle Collision East of Longlac

OPPcolourGREENSTONE, ON – November 16, 2016 at approximately 10:30am officers from the Greenstone Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a two vehicle collision involving an SUV and a tractor trailer unit on Highway 11 approximately 65 km east of Longlac at North Pagwachuan River.

Highway 11 west of Hearst and east of Longlac was closed for a number of hours and traffic was re-routed via Nipigon at Highway 11-17.

Greenstone OPP officers, fire, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and an OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigator attended the scene. It was determined that the SUV was travelling eastbound on Hwy 11 when it crossed over into oncoming traffic and impacted with the driver’s side of the westbound tractor trailer unit, causing the tractor trailer unit to subsequently catch fire.

The driver of the SUV, a 51-year-old female from Greenstone identified as Kimberley VAUGHAN was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the tractor trailer unit was not injured.
