NIPIGON, ON – On Saturday March 18, 2017 at approximately 8:25 a.m. members of the Nipigon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call of a single vehicle collision east of Nipigon at Highway 17, McAllister Township.
Officers attended the scene and located a tractor trailer unit that had left the roadway, entered the ditch, and rolled onto its side. Emergency services including Emergency Medical Service (EMS) and the Nipigon Fire Department attended to assist. The two vehicle occupants were located and pronounced deceased at the scene.
Deceased are the 53 year old male driver, Sarvjeet Singh CHAHAL and the 23 year old male passenger, Gurtej CHAHAL, both of Shelburne, Ontario.
Officers continue to investigate the cause of the collision.
