Share the Care Fundraising Walk a Huge Success

Members of the Manitouwadge Cancer Assistance Group, who organize and host the annual fundraising walk.

MANITOUWADGE, ON – Saturday, May 13, the Manitouwadge Cancer Assistance Group (MCAG) held it’s annual Share the Care Walk & BBQ.  Participants could collect pledges in the weeks proceeding the walk, or support by purchasing lunch or making a donation at the event   Cooking up some delicious barbecue (hot dogs & burgers) once again were members of the Manitouwadge Volunteer Fire Department led by Fire Chief Owen Cranney (left in photo above). MCAG Volunteer Clare Milks was excited to share that for the first time in a number of years the barbecue sold out completely a important portion of the total $5,806.35 raised – Way to go Manitouwadge!

In addition to great weather, the events hours being reduced (11-1pm) also seemed to encourage people’s attendance.   Thank you to all the volunteers who work diligently throughout the year as members of the Manitouwadge Cancer Assistance Group (not all were in attendance though of course there is much work that happens before and after the event behind the scenese) which provides financial support to local residents fighting cancer.

Manitouwadge Volunteer Firefighters gave their time as the bbq-chefs once again this year.

The cooks kept up with the steady line for barbecue throughout the event, selling out the burgers and hot dogs for the first time in a few years.

OntarioNewsNorth.com was proud to be a sponsor of the 2017 Share the Care walk, thanks to MCAG Volunteer Jackie Jung for her work in promoting the event and helping us contribute.
