Traffic Stop Results in Drug Charge

CHAPLEAU, ON – On Wednesday May 10, 2017, at approximately 4:15 pm members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East Chapleau Detachment had occasion to stop a motor vehicle on Highway 129 in the Township of Nimitz District of Sudbury for a traffic violation. Investigation revealed a quantity of Cannabis Marihuana.

As a result a 41 yr old male, from Sault Ste. Marie Ontario was charged with the following offence:

  • Adult- Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana Under 3 kg for the purpose of Trafficking contrary to section 5(1) of the Control Drug and Substance Act.

The accused was released from custody and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Chapleau Ontario on August 14, 2017.
