#CrossoverInsider : This Week’s New Release Trailers in Marathon & Manitouwadge

For many kids growing up in the mid 90’s, the Power Rangers were “the big thing”. From schoolyards to backyards, kids would pick their favorite ranger and would be amused for hours as they acted out scenes from the TV Show. Many movies were produced and released along with the making of various types of merchandise which capitalized on the popularity of the brand. The popularity of the Power Rangers cooled down considerably over the years, but that didn’t stop an ambitious production team from making another Power Rangers movie in hopes of spawning a new generation of fans- all the while recapturing the fans from the mid 90’s. Released in theatres on March 24th, the new installment to the Power Rangers series would go on to earn just over 85 million at the US box office. It is also this week’s headline new release in a busy week that marks the debut of several big-name films;

Power Rangers: starring Dacre Montgomery and Naomi Scott – SABAN’S POWER RANGERS follows five ordinary teens who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove — and the world — is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so, they will have to overcome their real-life issues and before it’s too late, band together as the Power Rangers.

Chips: starring Dax Shepard and Michael Pena – Jon Baker (Shepard) and Frank “Ponch” Poncherello (Peña) have just joined the California Highway Patrol (CHP) in Los Angeles but for very different reasons. Baker is a beaten up pro motorbiker trying to put his life and marriage back together. Poncherello is a cocky undercover Federal agent investigating a multi-million dollar heist that may be an inside job—inside the CHP.

T2 Trainspotting: starring Ewan McGregor and Robert Carlyle – Twenty years have gone by.
Much has changed but just as much remains the same. Mark Renton (Ewan McGregor) returns to the only place he can ever call home. They are waiting for him: Spud (Ewen Bremner), Sick Boy (Jonny Lee Miller), and Begbie (Robert Carlyle).

Belko Experiment: starring John Gallagher Jr.- In a twisted social experiment, a group of 80 Americans are locked in their high-rise corporate office in Bogata, Colombia and ordered by an unknown voice coming from the company’s intercom system to participate in a deadly game of kill or be killed.

Black Butterfly: starring Antonio Banderas and Jonathan Rhys Meyers – Remake of French thriller, Papillon Noir by Herve Korian. Banderas will play Paul, a down-on-his-luck screenwriter who picks up a drifter (Rhys Meyers) and offers him a place to stay. However, when the deranged stranger takes Paul hostage and forces him to write, their unhinged relationship brings buried secrets to light.

Table 19: starring Anna Kendrick and Craig Robinson – Ex-maid of honor Eloise – having been relieved of her duties after being unceremoniously dumped by the best man via text- decides to attend the wedding anyway only to find herself seated with 5 “random” guests at the dreaded Table 19.

Altitude: starring Dolph Lundgren and Denise Richards – An FBI agent finds herself caught in the middle of an elaborate mid-air heist, fighting to save the passengers while searching for the stolen loot hidden somewhere on board. (Action) (DVD)
