Police Seize More Than 50 Firearms in Hillsport

MARATHON, ON -Members of the Marathon and Manitouwadge detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a firearms related call in the town of Hillsport on July 23, 2017 at approximately 7:30am.

As a result of their investigation, one male was taken into custody without incident. Further, a search warrant was executed resulting in the seizure of over 50 firearms.

Andrew DEJONGE, a 27-year-old male from Hillsport is charged with the following offences contrary to the Criminal Code:

  • Utter Death Threats
  • Point a Firearm
  • Careless Storage of a Firearm
  • Mischief Under 5000 dollars
  • Possession of Weapons Dangerous to the Public.

The accused has been remanded to the District Jail in Thunder Bay.
