Wawa OPP Investigate Motor Vehicle Fatality

WAWA, ON – On July 9, 2017 at approximately 9:38 am members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East Wawa Detachment, responded to the scene of a motor vehicle collision that occurred on Highway 17 in Brimacombe Township located approximately 52 kilometers south of Wawa. Assisting with the response were Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the Wawa volunteer Fire Department (WFD).

An OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigator assisted at the scene. The investigation revealed that a motorcycle collided with an SUV.

The deceased rider of the motorcycle was identified as Rickey CHEMERIKA (58) of Grimsby Ontario. The driver of the SUV, 27 year old Catherine A. TRIGGS of Hamilton Ontario has been charged with the following offence;

  • Adult Careless Driving contrary to section 130 of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

The accused is scheduled to appear in Wawa court on September 21, 2017.
