#CrossoverInsider : 80’s Nostalgia, New Release Trailers and Big Videogame Releases

For kids growing up in the 80’s and 90’s, it would not be uncommon to find several “Transformers” toys sitting in the toy box. Created by a Japanese company called Takara, Transformers burst onto the scene in North America in 1984 when Hasbro purchased the rights. The toys were immensely popular right off the bat and it didn’t take long before other merchandise started bearing the Transformers name. In 2007, notorious producer Michael Bay was recruited to bring the first Transformers movie to the big screen. Starring Shia LaBoeuf and Megan Fox, the movie would go on to earn over 319 million dollars at North American theatres, leading to a slew of sequels. The fifth installment in the franchise, Transformers Last Knight, is this week’s headline new release. There are only three new releases this week, but they are all highly anticipated;

Transformers Last Knight: starring Mark Wahlberg, Anthony Hopkins and Josh Duhamel- As the Autobots and Decepticons engage in war, with humans on the sidelines, the key to saving our future lies buried in the secrets of the past, in the hidden history of Transformers on Earth. 47 Meters Down: starring Mandy Moore and Claire Holt- Two sisters vacationing in Mexico are trapped in a shark cage at the bottom of the ocean, and must fight to survive with less than an hour of oxygen left and great white sharks circling nearby. Void: starring Aaron Poole and Kenneth Welsh- Shortly after delivering a patient to an understaffed hospital, a police officer experiences strange and violent occurrences seemingly linked to a group of frightening hooded figures. (Horror/Mystery) (DVD)
