Back in 1999, we were introduced to an American participating in an archaeological dig who accidentally awakened a mummy that wreaked havoc on him, and his crew. Rick O’Connell, played by Brendan Fraser, would quickly become a household name as the movie became a smash hit grossing over 155 million at the US box office. Not surprisingly, pair of sequels were completed in 2001 and 2008 thus completing a trilogy for the now famous series. Fast forward to 2016 and fans of the franchise were treated to some unexpected news- yet another Mummy movie was in production, this time with Tom Cruise in the leading role. The newest installment of “The Mummy” is the headline new release in a week that features a total of six new movies. Below is a brief synopsis of each;

Mummy: starring Tom Cruise and Russell Crowe- An ancient princess is unintentionally awakened from her crypt leading to unimaginable malevolence and terror against humankind. (Action/Adventure) (DVD and Blu-Ray) Also available to rent @ 2 Doors Down in Manitouwadge! 

Captain Underpants: featuring the voices of Kevin Hart and Ed Helms- Two overly imaginative pranksters hypnotize their principal into thinking that he’s an incredibly dimwitted superhero named Captain Underpants. (Kids) (DVD and Blu-Ray) Also available to rent @ 2 Doors Down in Manitouwadge! 

It Comes at Night: starring Joel Edgerton- During the breakout of an unknown sickness, a desperate young family seeks refuge in the secluded home of a well-trained man, his wife and their 17 year old son. (Thriller) (DVD and Blu-Ray) Also available to rent @ 2 Doors Down in Manitouwadge! 

Dead Again in Tombstone: starring Danny Trejo- Guerrero returns from the dead once more to protect a stolen relic from getting into the hands of a gang of soldiers, whichcouldl ultimately wreak havocupon earth.(Western/Horror) (DVD)

Swallows and Amazons: starring Kelly Macdonald- Four children on vacation in the Lake District travel to an island where they start a war with rival kids. (Family/Adventure) (DVD)

Monster Island- A young boy’s life changes forever when he transforms into a monster in front of the most popular kids in school. (Kids/Animated) (DVD)
