A&W Show ‘n Shine

5 year old car enthusiast Carte Cook gets a lift from his friend, Tom Hanlan to get a closer look under the hood of one of the classics.

Fred Hatfield's 1923 Model T Bucket drew plenty of attention.

MARATHON, ON – Saturday, July 10th the Marathon Summerfest Show ‘n Shine was held in the parking lot of the Marathon A&W; in excess of 30 vehicular entrants drew admirers of classic cars throughout the afternoon.

Vehicles were enterred by participants from Marathon, Manitouwadge, Terrace Bay, Wawa and Thunder Bay.

Along side the Show ‘n Shine, Wawa businesses TransCanada Chrysler and Jones Power Sports had made the trip bringing along the best from their showrooms to offer Marathon and area residents some great deals.

Local garage, Denis’ Auto Body, provided added entertainment as people were encouraged to bet on how long it would take before the engine of a 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan (parked at 350,000km it had been regularly maintained with 10w30 until this fateful day) , which had been drained of all it’s oil, would fail.   The Caravan ran well for a full 45 minutes (the highest bid) at which point Denis put the peddle to the floor causing the engine to finally seize in less than a minute.

A crowd gathers around the seemingly indestructible 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan provoided by Denis' Auto Body.
