Council Addressed re:Garbage By-Law

Letter to the Editor

RE: Council meeting and garbage by-law petition

On Wed, Aug 11, I brought the petition regarding updating and amending the garbage by-law and presented it to council.  Although I was a bit nervous, many people showed up to support this topic.

I was very pleased when the Mayor, Mr MacEachern passed a resolution immediately to have the by-law changed and updated to meet the needs and wants of the community regarding our waste habits.

I would like to thank all those people that attended the council meeting and those who signed the petition and offered practical suggestions for changes to the bylaw.

Also thank you to Al Cresswell of CFNO for his interviews and reminders to the public about the meeting.

Lastly I would like to thank Karina Hunter and her online news site “OntarioNewsNorth.com for printing my letter in its’ entirety and for keeping it online for such a long period of time so that many people were kept informed about this topic.  It is great to have a local news site that keeps us updated on happenings on all the happenings on the North Shore.
