McGuinty Government Supporting Economic Development Growth
Ontario is helping Nipigon explore the possibility of building a multi-purpose centre and attracting new businesses to its waterfront.
With support from the province, Nipigon is developing a waterfront development master plan that will help the community identify new economic growth opportunities. The new waterfront plan will provide a blueprint for future developments and recommend waterfront enhancements.
Partnering with businesses and communities in Northern Ontario is part of the McGuinty government’s plan to create and support jobs for Ontario families and to strengthen local economies.

- Ontario is providing $50,000 for this project through the NOHFC’s Infrastructure and Community Development Program.
- In the 2011 Ontario Budget, the province committed a $10-million increase for a total of $100 million to the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund in 2011-12.
